Really digging the new Polica album. The full release is officially out on the 14th of this month. On the 18th they’ll be playing at Bunk Bar in Portland. We also have music from Caribou, Taken by Trees, Sola Rosa and tons more…
Cool remix of a 33Hz track. Also more PNAU, Caribou, Kavinsky and Emprire of the Sun. This weekend we’re introducing two tracks from a brand new band out of Minneapolis called “Polica” pronounced: Poh-Lee-Sha. They’ll be in Portland on the 18th of this month at Bunk Bar. Worth checking out.
We’re catching up on our archived shows! A couple of PNAU tracks for you guys tonight. We have to thank listener Dave for turning us on to some imports and earlier releases. Thanks Dave! Also music from Keenhouse, Poolside, TEED and an old New Order track that for some reason total fits the set it’s in. Check it out!
For all you astute listeners out there asking why there wasn’t a show posted the other week, we ended up running a repeat show since Tim and I were stuck in the ice storm in The Gorge and couldn’t make it to the studio. No power for 4 days. No cell service for a week. Had to sit in the car to stay warm and listen to music! Fun. Anyway, we’re back on track and here’s last week’s show.
I bet there’s more than 20 different versions of Iggy Pop’s “The Passenger” floating around out there. Here’s another one by Kid Loco with a nice heavy french accent. Also going back to some older music from Zoot Woman and music from Hard Mix, Memoryhouse, Bonobo and tons more…
Some great music tonight from LA’s, Poolside as well as Kiwi Soul from Sola Rosa….who comes up with these music categories anyway?? Also music from See-I, The Bees, Grimes and brand new Air off their forthcoming album which will be released February 7th.
Second Sky sent us their latest remix album and we obviously wanted to play some tracks off of their latest release for you. Pretty cool remixes by Holmes Ives, Dr. Rubburfunk and others. It’ll be available on January 17th. Also tonight, a great Calibre remix of Totally Enormous Dinos and music from Strange Talk, CFCF, Destroyer, Shit Robot, Teen Daze and plenty more…
Ripping Bag raiders song and still not getting enough of TEED. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Also going back to a classic Kruder und Dorfmeister track. This one goes out to our buddy Mark! The Radio Dept., Chad Valley, The Bees and tons more.
Going back to a remix of Miike Snow’s “Animal”, also music from Pnau, Destroyer, Scratch Massive and a track off the See-I remix release. Lots of new music on the last show of the year!
Last two shows of 2011 with music from Swedish chill wave outfit, Pallers, as well as music from Bent, Teed, Gotye, Hooverphonic and tons more…
Your web site is now broken, very sad interation.
Hi Tim & Mike,
I don’t know if you two remember that in the late 90′s I was the caller that won the contest (when I was residing in The Dalles, OR and I heard your show on Q-104 back then; now I listen to you both on 94.7 as I’m in Portland) for your slogan: “Area 54: Transporting Tunes from the Mothership.” I think it’s so cool that that slogan is still used! Just wanted to say hello.
Sincerely,
Janelle
Hi I heard a song last Saturday 10/16/10 night around 10:30 or 11:00 pm
I was trying to find out the name of the group or song that was playing.
I remember just some of the lyrics of the song saying -What’s the Problem-.
Any idea what the group or name of the song might be?
French Horn Rebellion – Up All Night – Kitsune Maison
It was played in the 4th set on Saturday night. Great song!
I just have always wanted to say thanks. I have been listening to your archives religiously every day for like 3 years now. Once again Thanks!
The first time I’ve listened to your guy’s show was when I was a child. Your intermissions with the alien voices creeped me out too much at that age, unnerving me to the point of never listening again; until I was in high school. The music you guys played was a great late night study aid, or just a simple way to unwind. I’ve been listening since (I’ve graduated) and I appreciate the effort you two put in your show and website.
Are there any future plans for other Area54 related merchandise? Coffee mugs or bumper stickers perhaps? I’ve bought both the grey and green shirts and they are great.
Hi,
I am really enjoying the changes to your site. I recently heard TanLines-Real Life and love it.
Is there a chance of hearing: Lykke Li – Little Bit AutoErotique Bootleg Remix on your show?

Thanks!

Do you guys do DJ gigs? I’m doing some booking for a lounge bar downtown. If not, would you suggest some lounge/chill style DJs in town?
Thanks guys, love the show!
Hi, I got your name from the Columbia Gorge Hotel and was wondering how much you charge for DJ service? We will have a Holiday party on 1/8/2011 and are looking for a DJ.
I love the show and the site. I used to be able to popout the player and I could play it while I was surfing around the rest of my sites – Facebook, games, etc. Now, when I click to another application, I lose the music. Did you change something? Do you have some ideas on how I can still groove to the music while Facebooking my friends? Your help is much appreciated.
Hey, Guys
A friend of mine on Portland recommended me to you, in that she thinks you might be interested in playing my band’s music.
I believe that the music should speak for itself, so I won’t babble on here – please check us out at http://www.soundcloud/shards-of-reason.
We’ve put our latest album onto Amazon and iTunes as a self-released project, but we’re hoping that with covereage from the right type of coverage (i.e. good souls like yourselves), we can push on to the next level.
Feel free to be the ones who ‘discover’ us.
Best regards
Phil

Hey, Tim and Mike. I’ve been away from P-town for a while and listening your show strictly online. I was hoping you guys would consider making a Iphone app, or at least make your website Iphone playable. I have tried to play your show a couple times for friends via Iphone with no luck. Thanks Elcholes
There was a song on around 12:46am, before bay of pigs by destroyer. What is the name of the song?
